Good or bad, hard to say?
With elements of my essay examining the notion of art and what actually is art, in particular, the dada - neo-dada ideas of anti-art. Taking inspiration from the Fluxus attitude I began to quickly explore the idea of what is bad art? After reading an article within .... on the museum of bad art it occurredd to me that there is an audience. It makes the idea of art much more approachable to everybody because its light and humouros. It makes subtle hints at the sometimes elitist nature of art by giving room to a more humble talent.
'The Museum Of Bad Art (MOBA) is a community-based, private institution dedicated to the collection, preservation, exhibition and celebration of bad art in all its forms and in all its glory. '
So I decided to see if I could find some 'bad' art. Primarily looking through charity shops within headingly. I found a few different pieces but did not want to start buying until I had decided for certain if this was the right concept for my practice. I also thought that by going to a car boot I may have much better luck at finding this work. At the end of the day though I can use archives to create layout examples. It would be nice to have actual pictures as I could think about interesting ways to photograph them but I also need to be aware of time.
Alongside this I recently watched a Ted talk on good and bad and our tendency to split the world into these two categories. The talker.... uses a story called Good, Bad? Hard to say! which was an example of how it is letrally hard to say wether something is good or bad? The concept of the publication would be centered around this idea.

After speaking to beth and jen about this Idea i was pointed in the direction of the turnip prize.
'The Turnip Prize is a spoof UK award satirising the Tate Gallery's Turner Prize by rewarding deliberately bad modern art. It was started as a joke in 1999, but gained national media attention and inspired similar prizes'.
This is further evidence there is a audience for this.
Heres some examples.
“Minnie Driver” by Tiger Would
“Pant & Dec” by Lady (Shiela) Critters
“Pulled Pork” by Chris P Bacon
