Here is a range of examples using digital aspects within print, It ranges from newspapers, magazines, vinyl and even billboards. Big companys such as volkswagen using these types of interactive adverts tells as that there is place for these adverts. I will be taking influence from these adverts to create an example of how print and digital can be used together to create unique experiences for people.
This print ad won the Mobile Grand Prix at Cannes in 2014. The ad includes a wristband you could attach to your child as he runs around at the beach. The app lets you set a distance and receive alerts if the child wandered beyond the limit. - A Brilliantly clever advert which using smart phone technology to there advantage. The app helps locate children on the beach through a bracelet which is attached to the advert. The advert isn't actually to do with the product it is based around the safety of the child this is very positive and makes the brand look good within the eyes of the mother. Its taking advantage of websites like youtube to spread the ad to more people than just who will read the paper. It doesnt advertise the product directly but it creates a great talking point and shows good efficcs
UTEC, an engineering and technology university, wanted to recruit more students. Instead of placing the smiling faces of young graduates on a billboard, it created an ad that pulled moisture out of the air in Lima, Peru, which sees very little rain each year. - A billboard advert which uses tech to help make a change and in turn getting there company name out there. A example of how print can merge with digital on a far bigger scale than just a newspaper or magazine.
In 2013, Lexus released an ad that, when placed over an iPad, revealed the car in action with different backgrounds and music. - A brilliant example of how augmented reality can be used, This is creating an experience which can not be create by print on its own or digital on its own. It is a combination of the two which make it great showing digital and print have a future working alongside each other.
Kontor Records wanted to get the attention of creative advertising professionals. Instead of mailing out the latest CD, it sent a vinyl record with a paper turntable that could be played with an iPhone. Another good example of how print and digital can be used other ways than just within a newspaper or magazine.
Glacial
If you’ve ever wanted to speed up the beer-cooling process, you’ll understand the allure of this print ad from Glacial. You soak the ad in water, wrap it around the bottle, and put it in the freezer. The print ad was made with salt particles, which reduce the freezing point of water. - This advert doesn't use digital but Its really pushing what an advert could be and take using tech to do so.
Volkswagon published a three-page spread so readers could take a test drive. You could download an app and can try out different features, including the "Lane Assist" mode that would cause the phone to vibrate when it got too close to one side of the road. - Here is a another example of how big companys are looking more towards interative adverts. This shows much using an app may make these adverts slightly less useable as not everyone wants to download an app. I will conduct some research into this aspect, through surveys
